Makeover un­der way

WORK on Bel­mont Fo­rum’s $65 mil­lion re­fur­bish­ment be­gan on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 19.

Build­ing works are well un­der­way on a din­ing precinct, with six restau­rants and an al­fresco area, ad­ja­cent to the cinema com­plex.

It is due to open in April.

Carpark up­grades are in progress in­clud­ing ad­di­tional bays, light­ing and trees to pro­vide more shade.

Work on a fresh­food precinct will be­gin early next month, in­clud­ing a new Coles su­per­mar­ket.

Ex­ist­ing malls and the shop­ping cen­tre’s ex­te­rior will re­ceive a much-needed up­grade.

Per­ron Group chief ex­ec­u­tive Ross Robert­son, whose or­gan­i­sa­tion owns Bel­mont Fo­rum, said “the shop­ping cen­tre has been a pil­lar in the com­mu­nity for over 40 years,” and was “evolv­ing to meet the chang­ing needs of peo­ple liv­ing and work­ing around Bel­mont.”

Re­de­vel­op­ment is sched­uled for com­ple­tion in mid-2018.
