A MAN who allegedly tried to ransom a chihuahua back to its owner after stealing a car with the dog inside has been remanded in custody until February 24. The 37-year-old man of no fixed address allegedly stole a Ford Focus hatchback, with the dog inside, from Lord Street in Mt Lawley on Saturday, January 7. Kensington Detectives allege the man then tried to demand a sum of money from the owner of the hatchback for the return of the dog. Both the car and dog were recovered. Police allege the man also stole a car in East Victoria Park on January 7 and burgled a business in Victoria Park on the same day. The man was charged with demanding property by written threats, burglary and commit, two counts of stealing and two counts of no authority to drive. He appeared in the Northbridge Magistrates Court on February 12.
