All abilities welcome
THE Town of Victoria Park’s Music by Moonlight concert turns 10 this year and to celebrate its success the event will host Ability Idol, a singing competition open to children of all abilities, as its pre-show entertainment.
The event will take place at the Burswood Park Foreshore on March 12 from 5.30pm with an array of talent taking the stage.
Once the winner has been crowned, the audience will be entertained by local duo Kaboom Percussion before the WA Youth Orchestra (WAYO) take the stage at 7pm.
Kaboom Percussion is made up of Catherine Betts and Joshua Webster, both freelance percussionists who have been working together for the past decade.
Their YouTube channel has received over 20 million genuine views, so the audience is in for a real treat.
To celebrate its 10 years playing at Music by Moonlight, WAYO will perform crowd favourites from blockbuster movies around the world.
This year, a different approach has been taken by the Town of Victoria Park and WA Youth Orchestra, with the audience being able to choose from a list of songs they would like played on the evening through a Facebook survey.
Mayor Trevor Vaughan said he thought this was a great way for the audience to feel involved in the evening.
“The WA Youth Orchestra has given us a list of eight songs for our audience to choose from, and they will choose five from the list to perform on the evening,” he said.
