Southern Cross Care goes for solar in villages
SOUTHERN Cross Care (SCC) has installed solar power at its aged care village in Rivervale in a bid to avoid rising energy costs.
The village has installed 328kw of solar panels which will provide between 19 to 30 per cent of its electricity each year.
SCC has spent $700,000 installing solar panels on its five retirement centres across Perth and is predicted to reduce its overall energy costs by $250,000 a year.
Perdaman Advanced Energy, which completed the project, reports the solar panels will produce a combined 657,940kw annually, reducing the aged care village’s carbon impact by the equivalent of planting 3700 trees.
