Thumbing for help
Victoria Park Men's Shed management commitee chairman Jack Beere is looking for people with green thumbs to help out with the organisation's garden.
THE Victoria Park Men’s Shed is looking to attract new members after receiving a grant to improve its community garden.
The group received $1000 from Street Hassle Events, which will be used for a pump to connect a rainwater tank to the garden.
Victoria Park Men’s Shed management committee chairman Jack Beere said the project would allow for the garden to be irrigated.
“At the moment it’s a bit of an ad hoc garden but now we can actually design and build a productive garden,” he said.
“The main crop at the moment is parsley, which we grow and donate to Manna once per week.
“The new garden would allow us to grow seasonable vegetables and it would basically become a thriving vegetable garden and we could donate more to Manna.”
