MORE people are signing up to Burswood Neighbourhood Watch as the program gathers steam in the local community.

A social event was held at The Circus on March 12, with about 150 people enjoying a sausage sizzle and hearing about how the program works.

“We had the Sideffect bus, the Victoria Park Lions cooking sausages and it was a good social event,” committee member Chris Quinn said

“We now have a direct mobile number to the police, which will mean we can get them out here quicker. About 60 people expressed their interest in joining our Whatsapp group, with about 30 people already signed up and this will allow people to know what’s happening.”

Mr Quinn said he hoped the program would help reduce crime in the area.
