Singapore flight celebrates a strong bond

TO mark the 50th anniversary of Singapore Airlines flying to Perth, a special A350900 made a low fly-by past the city last Wednesday.

Following its departure from Perth Airport, SQ226 flew at 1500ft (450m), tracking along the Swan River in front of the city before heading towards the coast.

The first Singapore Airlines flight to Perth touched down in April 1967, a De Havilland Comet that seated 70 passengers.

“More than 450,000 passengers travelled to and from Singapore last year. Visitors from Singapore love coming here and Perth is always ready to welcome them,” Perth Airport chief executive Kevin Brown said. d467710

“It’s not just an important economic connection – there’s a strong social and cultural bond.”

Festivities for the special flight.
