Red­backs in dou­ble bite of Ea­gles

THE Perth Red­backs men’s team con­tin­ued their un­beaten start to the sea­son even with­out Alex Loughton, Michael Vigor and Lee Roberts, beat­ing the Ea­gles by 13 points at Bel­mont Oa­sis on Fri­day night.

Perth did have to come from be­hind at three quar­ter-time to win though .

East Perth led 66-63 at the last change but the Red­backs got go­ing in the fourth pe­riod with 33 points to 17 to win by 13.

Shawn Red­hage played all 40 min­utes of the game for the Red­backs and ended up with 27 points, 12 re­bounds and 8 as­sists.

Ben Smith had a good game for Perth too with 24 points and six re­bounds, nail­ing 5 of 11 from three-point range.

Riley Chap­pell stood up for the Red­backs with 12 points, with Di­ing Mawein con­tribut­ing 12 points and Joel Wag­ner 10 to go with six as­sists.

The women’s team won their sec­ond straight game and are now build­ing some mo­men­tum, hav­ing downed the Ea­gles by 16 points on their home floor.

Emilee Har­mon had a good night for Perth with 20 points, nine re­bounds and five steals but she had plenty of help.

Re­becca Ben­son added 14 points for the Red­backs, Ajay John­son 12 (10 steals) and Bianca Dono­van nine.

Eryn Fisher was im­pres­sive for the Ea­gles with 11 points and four re­bounds, with Bri­anna Fisher adding 10 points.

Jodee Son­tay also fin­ished with 10 points and five re­bounds for East Perth and Elainah Cof­fin 10 to go with eight boards, five as­sists and two steals.
