El­ph­ick wins Notre Dame schol­ar­ship

MAN­NING res­i­dent Ni­cholas El­ph­ick won a univer­sity schol­ar­ship for his con­tri­bu­tion to sport, specif­i­cally wa­ter polo.

El­ph­ick is study­ing phys­io­ther­apy at the Univer­sity of Notre Dame and has rep­re­sented the State and the na­tion in wa­ter polo, with sights set on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

This year, he hopes to rep­re­sent Aus­tralia at the U20 World FINA Wa­ter Polo Cham­pi­onships in Bel­grade, Ser­bia, in Au­gust.

“I would like to thank the Pren­diville fam­ily for pro­vid­ing this schol­ar­ship, which will help me with my stud­ies and in achiev­ing my fu­ture goals,” El­ph­ick said.

The univer­sity’s Pren­diville Schol­ar­ship was es­tab­lished by the Pren­diville fam­ily and is given to an out­stand­ing grad­u­ate from Aquinas Col­lege.

Peter Pren­diville is the cur­rent Univer­sity Chan­cel­lor.

“The School of Phys­io­ther­apy is de­lighted to wel­come Ni­cholas to the Notre Dame com­mu­nity.

“We look for­ward to help­ing Ni­cholas re­alise his ca­reer am­bi­tions as a phys­io­ther­a­pist,” Dean of the School of Phys­io­ther­apy Pro­fes­sor Jo Con­naughton said.
