A lot riding on Anzac raceday
ASCOT Racecourse hosted its annual Anzac raceday last week.
The day featured a wreath laying and flag raising ceremony to honour servicemen and women, and there was a moment’s silence.
The Australian Navy conducted the catafalque party, and the Kalamunda-Pinjarra A-Squadron 10th Light Horseman Memorial troop led the service.
Variation, ridden by Brad Parnham, took out the Legacy Diggers Cup, and Zarantz, ridden by Aaron Mitchell, won the $150,000 RSLWA Western Australian Cup.
“It’s very important to us at Perth Racing in paying our respects and commemorating our Anzacs,” Perth Racing managing director John Yovich said.
“We were very grateful to see so many people join us, enjoying great racing, the tradition of the Legacy Diggers Cup, and the RSL Western Australian Cup.”
