Racing to help young people on streets

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

THE Passages Race Day at Ascot on May 6 raised more than $76,000 for vulnerable young people.

Passages Resource Centre (PRC) is a joint venture between St Vincent de Paul Society and Rotary Club of Perth, and provides facilities and support services for young people on the streets.

PRC chairman David Reed said the event was crucial in raising much-needed funds.

“Every day, staff at Passages can see 30 to 40 young people through their services,” he said. “Without the generous support of corporate and community sponsors and the race day attendees, Passages would not be able to continue to provide kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, referrals, information, counselling and advocacy to young people in crisis in Perth.”
