A message from your Mayor

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

Hello everyone We’ve almost reached the half-way mark for the year, and what a great six months it has been. We kicked off the year with a trip to Woodstock as part of our popular Twilight Trios series, unveiled a new and improved website in February, began the much-needed refresh of Aqualife in March and delivered a month full of creativity for the 2017 Arts Season in April. We have received your thoughts on banning plastic bags, the Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project, public health, safer neighbourhoods and social infrastructure – to name just a few. Public participation on the Evolve project also ended and we are now busy finalising the Strategic Community Plan that will guide our direction for the next 15 years. You may also have noticed improvements and upgrades made to your surroundings. Work is progressing on the Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project and it is already providing benefits to our community. The Causeway underpass was upgraded to prevent flooding and lighting was installed at the multi-purpose courts at McCallum Park. Our library was given a facelift and we can now boast about having international-standard squash courts at Leisurelife. The second half of this year will be just as exciting and productive. Keep up-to-date as things happen through our website at

and be sure to follow us on Facebook,

Twitter and Instagram. I hope that the rest of your year is safe, healthy and enjoyable. Mayor Trevor Vaughan
