KENS­ING­TON De­tec­tives have charged three men fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent in St James on Thurs­day, June 1. About 6.10am, a male taxi driver col­lected the three men from Hill View Ter­race and be­gan driv­ing to a des­ti­na­tion. An al­ter­ca­tion took place be­tween the driver and the men. It will be al­leged that one of the men struck the driver with a knife, caus­ing a mi­nor in­jury. The driver stopped the ve­hi­cle and got out. The three men also got out of the taxi and the al­ter­ca­tion con­tin­ued out­side the ve­hi­cle. It is fur­ther al­leged the three men then got back into the taxi, driv­ing it away. The men al­legedly drove the taxi on Hill View Ter­race to Al­bany High­way be­fore aban­don­ing it near Hu­bert Street, East Vic­to­ria Park. Po­lice were called and iden­ti­fied the three men, who were ar­rested and later charged. The male taxi driver, a 30-year-old man from Bent­ley, sought med­i­cal at­ten­tion for a mi­nor wound. A 26-year-old man from Ken­wick and 26-year-old man from East Vic­to­ria Park were charged with ag­gra­vated armed rob­bery, acts or omis­sions caus­ing bod­ily harm or dan­ger to any per­son, steal­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle and as­sault­ing the driver of a taxi. A 15-year-old boy from Dar­ling­ton was charged with ag­gra­vated armed rob­bery and steal­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.
