DENY BURGLARS EASY OPTIONS WITH SIMPLE MEASURES

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

POLICE report burglaries and stealing from cars remains an issue. Remember to lock doors, windows and letterboxes, and remove valuables from cars. Crooks generally look for easy options and take advantage of unsuspecting people, so we all need to continue to do our part in making it tougher on crooks by reducing opportunist offending. A dominant type of offence we are still seeing in significant numbers is the simple stealing of handbags and wallets from cars and homes. Offenders then use cards for multiple payWave or PayPass purchases. We need people to be more vigilant about knowing where their cards are and not leaving them unattended in the car. We are also asking retail businesses to question transactions that look suspicious. If a person or vehicle looks suspicious, trust your instincts and call 131 444. - Det Sgt Jennifer Binder
