Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - OPINION -

SOME might say dropping hundreds of tonnes of concrete on Sir James Mitchell Park is a form of vandalism.

The $7 million proposed for the Westralian Centre in Sir James Mitchell Park could be transferred to a South Perth museum and cultural centre.

There are hundreds of items and documents of local history going back to 1892.

They are stored in the civic centre library and at the South Perth Historical Society. They need to see the light of day.

The City of South Perth commissioned the Perth Electric Tram Restoration Society to restore a South Perth tram. It’s still waiting for a place to call home.

Ernest Johnson Reserve master plan is well under construction and closest to the South Perth Civic Centre prescient.

EJ Reserve is ideal for the South Perth museum and the tram.

The site would be on the corner of Sandgate and Hensman streets.

This would be a landmark site representing recreation and cultural facilities for all to enjoy. BILL GLEESON South Perth
