Perth share spoils in dou­ble header

A DOU­BLE header at War­wick Sta­dium against the Stir­ling Se­na­tors pro­duced one win and one loss for Perth Red­backs.

In the Women’s SBL, the Red­backs lost to the Se­na­tors 83-75, their fifth de­feat in a row.

The Red­backs got off to a good start and led by two points at the main break, but the Se­na­tors got go­ing in the sec­ond half with 47 points to 37 to win by eight.

Kisha Lee bounced back from a quiet night on Fri­day to de­liver 25 points and seven re­bounds for the Se­na­tors.

Jas­mine Martin added 21 points, six steals, three as­sists and three re­bounds for Stir­ling, while Am­ber Land fin­ished with 10 points, nine boards and five as­sists, and Han­nah Throns 10 points, six re­bounds, five as­sists and five steals.

Gabby Clay­ton top-scored for the Red­backs with 20 points, five re­bounds and five as­sists.

Re­becca Ben­son added 17 points, four re­bounds and three as­sists for Perth, with Lisa Wall­but­ton con­tribut­ing 10 points and eight boards, Jess Jak­ens eight points and eight re­bounds, and Emilee Har­mon eight points, six boards and four as­sists.

In the Men’s SBL, the Red­backs beat the Se­na­tors 78-89, with Mar­shall Nel­son com­ing off the bench for the Red­backs to score 26 points and seven re­bounds on shoot­ing 11-of-19 from the floor and 4-of-7 from be­yond the arc.

Michael Vigor fin­ished with 16 points, 11 re­bounds and seven as­sists while Lee Roberts had 16 points, 10 boards and three as­sists, and Ben Smith 13 points, five as­sists and four re­bounds.

Cody El­lis top-scored for the Se­na­tors with 22 points and eight re­bounds, with Rhys Vague con­tribut­ing 19 points and four boards, Austin Bru­ton 11 points, Ash Lit­t­er­ick nine points and Cor­ban Wroe eight points, eight re­bounds and five as­sists.

The Red­backs had too much fire­power even with­out Shawn Red­hage to win by nine points and im­prove to 11-6.

Stir­ling has now lost four straight to be 8-9 in eighth spot.
