Busi­ness park up­grade a jobs boost

BEL­MONT Busi­ness Park is in the midst of a $12 mil­lion up­grade.

The multi-mil­lion dol­lar in­fra­struc­ture project is be­ing funded by the City of Bel­mont and the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment’s Stronger Re­gions Fund to bring more jobs and em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties to the area.

Works so far have con­cen­trated on the roll­out of a street park­ing pro­gram on Aber­nethy Road, Campbell Street, Robin­son Av­enue and oth­ers, to in­crease the num­ber of car bays in the area for an im­me­di­ate ben­e­fit to cus­tomers.

The other ma­jor com­po­nent of the project is a Bel­mont Av­enue up­grade be­tween Great East­ern High­way and Alexan­der Road, with works ex­pected to take place in 2018 and fin­ish­ing in early 2019.

The busi­ness park is bounded by Great East­ern High­way, Knutsford Av­enue and Belgravia Street, and is home to 800 busi­nesses from a va­ri­ety of sec­tors.

Fed­eral Em­ploy­ment Min­is­ter Michaelia Cash re­cently toured the area to meet with lo­cal busi­nesses and see first­hand how the busi­ness park is pro­gress­ing.
