Faulkner Pub­lic Li­brary is host­ing a won­der­ful weav­ing ses­sion be­tween 9.45am and 10.45am this week­end. Join artist Miriam Gar­dener for an in­tro­duc­tion to nat­u­ral tex­tiles and sim­ple weav­ing tech­niques in Cloverdale. AU­THOR and pre­sen­ter Yass­min Ab­delMagied will be at the Man­ning Com­mu­nity Hall for a Spe­cial Edi­tion event on July 5 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Yass­min will share her hopes for the future and how she main­tains her re­silience de­spite be­ing the tar­get of sig­nif­i­cant crit­i­cism that at­tacks both who she is and what she stands for. She has forged a hy­brid ca­reer as an en­gi­neer, so­cial ad­vo­cate and me­dia com­men­ta­tor and is a sought-af­ter ad­vi­sor for state and fed­eral gov­ern­ments. A role model to many, in­clud­ing in the Mus­lim com­mu­nity, Yass­min has been recog­nised with many awards. The event costs $5.
