Family fun day in park
REDCLIFFE Park will be buzzing with art, dancing, food and celebrations on July 4 for Jacaranda Community Centre’s Naidoc Family Day.
Aboriginal Family Support and School Inclusion Program officer Venis Collard said everyone was invited to take part in the event, which Jacaranda had been running for several years.
“It gives local people the opportunity to get involved personally in celebrating Naidoc Week. Everyone can have a share; it’s for non-Aboriginal people to get involved too,” Mr Collard said.
The 2017 Naidoc Week theme, Our Languages Matter, emphasises and celebrates the unique and essential role that indigenous languages play in cultural identity.
The celebrations will be hosted by MC Reno James, with a cultural display and Dreaming stories, stalls, flag raising, art display, traditional dancing and didgeridoo performances, Aboriginal foods and a sausage sizzle, face painting, a gym bus and more.
All are invited to come along and celebrate from 11am to 3pm at Redcliffe Park.
