Centre looking spanking new

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

THE Miles Park Community Centre is looking better than ever after a $1.6 million refurbishment.

The centre was officially opened on Thursday. It has new change rooms, storage areas, toilets, better lighting, a new playground and more.

Funding came from the City of Belmont, State and Federal governments and Lotterywest to make the facility modern and fresh for local clubs and groups.

The Belmont Junior Soccer Club is based out of the Miles Park Community Centre, with about 260 children of more than 38 nationalities coming together to play sport, have fun and make friends.

Club president Martin Connolly said the refurbishment was looking fantastic.

“It won’t make any difference to how we play or do things, but it’s certainly a lovely facility. It’s been the envy of people who’ve come round to see it,” he said.

Mr Connolly said his club works with children from age 3 and up and getting them out on the field had a big impact on the children and their families.
