Red­backs come up empty-handed

PERTH Red­backs had a dif­fi­cult week­end at home, los­ing all their games dur­ing dou­ble head­ers on Fri­day and Sun­day.

The Fri­day night Women’s SBL ac­tion be­gan at Bel­mont Oa­sis with the Joon­dalup City Wolves scor­ing an im­por­tant seven-point vic­tory over the Red­backs.

Chelsea Belcher top-scored for the Lady Wolf­pack with 18 points and three re­bounds on shoot­ing 7-of-15 from the field, 2-of-4 from three­p­oint range and 2-of-2 at the line.

Emilee Har­mon ended up with 16 points, three re­bounds and three as­sists for the Red­backs.

Gabby Clay­ton added 13 points, five boards and four as­sists, and Bianca Dono­van nine points and four re­bounds.

In the Men’s SBL, the Wolves de­feated the Red­backs by 12 points.

The Wolf­pack got off to a fast start with 21 points to 12 in the open­ing quar­ter be­fore the Red­backs hit back in the sec­ond term to be back within two by half-time.

But the Wolves set up the win in the third term with 24 points to 13 points.

On Sun­day, the Red­backs lost to the Stir­ling Sen­a­tors by seven points in the Women’s SBL while the men’s team lost to the Sen­a­tors by 10 points.
