Locks lopped to support good cause

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - STREET WATCH -

A PENRHOS College student has lost her locks for good cause.

Year 12 student Danielle Beeby had her head shaved at lunch in front of a big crowd on Monday to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the World’s Greatest Shave.

Danielle, a boarder at the school, said she had wanted to shave her head to raise money since she was in Year 8.

“I’ve had different forms of cancer in my family; I never met my grandfather but he had a huge influence of my mum and so he was my main inspiration,” she said.

“I thought because it’s my last year this would be my biggest platform to do something.

“I had six friends support me and cut their hair as well.”

Danielle said the hair would be donated to United Kingdom-based charity the Little Princess Trust.

“So far $3600 has been raised online; for me it’s not about myself but what everyone else has been able to do,” she said.

“I blanked out when I was speaking in front of everyone and I was freaking out when my hair was being shaved off, but everyone in this school is supportive.” SEE THE VIDEO AT
