Siblings born to be on bike

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - SPORT -

THERE is no sibling rivalry when Bianca, Taylor and Mitchell Campbell take to the BMX track.

The Thornlie trio are part of a group of eight Southside BMX Club members who were selected to represent Australia at the UCI BMX World Championships in South Carolina that just concluded.

Their mother Brenda said the trio had all worked incredibly hard to qualify, usually training twice a day, five times a week in addition to competing twice a week.

“The kids have worked very hard in trying to achieve the highest results they can in BMX,” she said.

Bianca (16) is currently ranked fifth for her age in Australia and is part of the WA team and is in the WAIS developing champions squad.

Her brother Taylor (13) has endured hardship already in his young career, having suffered two broken arms.

But he has rebounded strongly and is currently ranked fifth in WA and races two years up in the 15 Boys bracket.

The youngest of the siblings, Mitchell (10) seemed destined to follow in the footsteps of his brother and sister from an early age. Just a few weeks after he began to ride, he broke a long-standing record for fastest velodrome lap time for his age group.
