Lesson to the world

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - SPORT -

COMO Secondary College Hockey Academy is calling out for people to join a Guinness World Record attempt for the biggest hockey lesson.

The event is open to people of all ages and no prior experience is required for the attempt that will take place at Perry Lakes on August 19.

The current record was set by a school in the UK which attracted 509 participants, but Como Hockey Academy are hopeful they will be able to smash that.

Event organiser and academy parent helper Jane Scott said she saw another organisation doing a record attempt and so she searched it on Google and thought they could do it.

“There’s plenty of hockey world records out there but this one is do-able,” she said.

“It also allows us to get the kids involved in the lesson and the organisation of the event.

“The reaction we’ve had so far has been extremely positive and exciting.”

Online registration is available prior to the event, or people can register on the day.

There will be prizes to be won, and opportunities to score autographs from high-profile players.
