ARSON Squad detectives have made a call out for information about a Redcliffe building fire. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 damage. Police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to a building on Great Eastern Highway at 3am on Friday, July 21. The building is a heritage-listed commercial property. Detectives would like to speak to the driver of a white utility seen driving along Great Eastern Highway near the building around 3am. Anyone with information regarding the fire – or who may have seen suspicious vehicles or people in the area between 2.30am and 3.30am – should call Crime Stoppers. Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
KENSINGTON Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man suspected of a robbery in Victoria Park on Friday, August 4. About 11.15am a 19-year-old man was walking on Teague Street towards the Victoria Park train station. A white sedan approached from Duncan Street and a man got out and walked up to him, snatched his bag and ran back to the car. The car drove off towards Axon Avenue. Police have released a composite image (below) of the man, who is described as of medium build, about 185cm tall in his late 40s with olive skin, a long face, gaunt cheeks and dark brown hair. He was wearing a loose-fitting black jumper with a Red Bull logo on the upper right chest and grey track suit pants with black and grey joggers. The driver is described as being fair-skinned, in his mid-30s to early 40s, wearing a black cap and had a left side lip piercing.
