CHILDREN’S Book Week
will open at the Manning Community Hall with a special event on August 18 between 10.30am and noon. Celebrate the week with a special opening session for children, parents, teachers and grandparents. Special guests include author and illustrator Kylie Howarth, Kaleidoscope Ensemble, a musical interpretation of Somewhere Else by Hus Gordon, and Mayor Sue Doherty The event is free and open to school groups and the general public and is suitable for children 7 years and under. TWO tech savvy classes about ‘the wonderful world of Podcasts’ will be held at the Victoria Park Library on August 26 between 10am and noon, and 1pm and 3pm. The sessions will be run by Roger Meakes and volunteers from the Digital Hub. The class is a part of a series of workshops that cover topics such as learning how to get the most out of your digital devices and learning to use the library’s digital collection. Register on the Town of Victoria Park’s website. THE Belmont Interest Group is hosting a session to explore the Alexander Technique. The Technique helps you learn the ways you hold, move and use your body, and has been described as a way to feel better and move in a more relaxed way. Practitioner Glenn Swift will lead the session at Ruth Faulkner Public Library from 2pm to 3pm on Monday, August 21. No bookings are required for this free event.
