will open at the Man­ning Com­mu­nity Hall with a special event on Au­gust 18 be­tween 10.30am and noon. Cel­e­brate the week with a special open­ing ses­sion for chil­dren, par­ents, teach­ers and grand­par­ents. Special guests in­clude au­thor and il­lus­tra­tor Kylie Howarth, Kalei­do­scope En­sem­ble, a mu­si­cal in­ter­pre­ta­tion of Some­where Else by Hus Gor­don, and Mayor Sue Do­herty The event is free and open to school groups and the gen­eral pub­lic and is suit­able for chil­dren 7 years and un­der. TWO tech savvy classes about ‘the won­der­ful world of Pod­casts’ will be held at the Victoria Park Li­brary on Au­gust 26 be­tween 10am and noon, and 1pm and 3pm. The ses­sions will be run by Roger Meakes and vol­un­teers from the Dig­i­tal Hub. The class is a part of a se­ries of work­shops that cover top­ics such as learn­ing how to get the most out of your dig­i­tal de­vices and learn­ing to use the li­brary’s dig­i­tal col­lec­tion. Reg­is­ter on the Town of Victoria Park’s web­site. THE Belmont In­ter­est Group is host­ing a ses­sion to ex­plore the Alexan­der Tech­nique. The Tech­nique helps you learn the ways you hold, move and use your body, and has been de­scribed as a way to feel bet­ter and move in a more re­laxed way. Prac­ti­tioner Glenn Swift will lead the ses­sion at Ruth Faulkner Pub­lic Li­brary from 2pm to 3pm on Mon­day, Au­gust 21. No book­ings are re­quired for this free event.
