Support group has help in mind
PERTH Active Depression Support Group has opened a free drop-in clinic on Tuesdays at the Subud Centre in East Victoria Park.
Founder Rahul Seth has run the support group since 2016 with events held throughout the metro area.
Early this year, the Victoria Park resident approached the Town of Victoria Park in the hope of finding a local venue for the mental health support service.
The Subud Centre team offered the venue at no cost.
Mr Seth previously worked in accounting.
He said his career was affected by poor mental health resulting from an upbringing focused on academic achievement and work, rather than a balanced life filled with multiple passions and interests.
He said a full recovery from the “black dog” was possible with the right support.
“The key to mental health recovery and living a happy life is developing various social connections. The aim of the free drop-in clinic is to champion the message of inclusion and connection through fun activities, such as playing board games and mindful colouring,” he said.
The drop-in clinic will run for a month’s trial and will end on August 28.
