Shop threats

A MAN has been charged af­ter al­legedly threat­en­ing bottle shop staff in River­vale with a ma­chete be­fore tak­ing off with a sum of money.

Po­lice said a man drove a Holden Com­modore sedan through the driv­ethrough of a bottle shop at­tached to a bar on Great Eastern High­way on Wed­nes­day night.

It is al­leged the man threat­ened staff with a ma­chete and drove off af­ter be­ing given a sum of cash.

Later that night, the car was spot­ted by po­lice of­fi­cers in Heathridge.

It is al­leged the driver at­tempted to es­cape a po­lice pur­suit, be­fore be­ing stopped on Ocean Reef Road, Joon­dalup and taken into cus­tody.

A 28-year-old man was charged with two counts of driv­ing an un­reg­is­tered ve­hi­cle; two counts of hav­ing no au­thor­ity to drive; one count of armed rob­bery; one count of steal­ing; reck­less driv­ing to es­cape pur­suit; pos­sess­ing a pro­hib­ited drug; and fail­ing to stop.
