How shar­ing your fam­ily roast recipe can help peo­ple with de­men­tia.

THE call is out for peo­ple to share fam­ily roast recipes as part of a de­men­tia aware­ness cam­paign, based on the prin­ci­ple the smell of a roast can help with mem­ory re­call.

WA ser­vice and sup­port or­gan­i­sa­tion Com­mu­nity Vi­sion has an am­bi­tious target of rais­ing $250,000 by De­cem­ber to help pay for a de­men­tia bus to carry tools, equip­ment and ther­apy in­for­ma­tion, to help the thou­sands of peo­ple who care for a loved one with de­men­tia.

The ill­ness is the sec­ond lead­ing cause of death be­hind heart dis­ease in Aus­tralia.

Cam­paign am­bas­sador Rayne Bryant (nee Em­b­ley) shared her recipe for a sen­sa­tional fam­ily feast.

Her recipe is in the run­ning to be in­cluded in a fundrais­ing recipe book.
