Youth have million reasons to smile

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - NEWS -

AS Telethon 2018 raced to a close and a record $38,000,554 in donations, there was a nice acknowledgement made for the fundraising efforts of a group of Lathlain children.

The Telethon Stand Team was the final pledge read out on television and the $1308 tipped in by the group of students was the clincher to push past $38 million.

They collected their money – as they have done for the past six years – by operating a stall out the front of Siena and Kasia Favazzo’s house.

The first time Siena and Kasia and their neighbour Gabi sold old toys and books to raise $80.

This year, with help from friends and fellow Ursula Frayne Catholic College students, Javauna, Amy and Georgia, they upped the ante by holding the stall over two weekends and selling cakes, plants, toys and books.

Next year they will be official Telethon fundraisers and are hoping to beat their total raised from this year.

Siena, Kasia, Gabi, Javauna, Amy and Georgia celebrate their fundraising efforts for Telethon.
