Sis­ter city vis­i­tors say kon­nichiwa

STU­DENTS from Ja­pan trav­elled to Bel­mont re­cently as part of a sis­ter city pro­gram.

The City of Bel­mont has had a 32-year part­ner­ship with the City of Adachi, re­sult­ing in hun­dreds of stu­dents trav­el­ling to Aus­tralia to ex­pe­ri­ence a dif­fer­ent cul­ture.

For many of the Adachi stu­dents this was their first time in Aus­tralia and they spent the week trav­el­ling around Perth and mak­ing new friends.

Their itin­er­ary in­cluded Caver­sham Wildlife Park, Mar­garet River Choco­late Fac­tory, Maal­inup Abo­rig­i­nal Art Gallery, Adachi Park, Bilya Kard Boodja Look­out and more.

Mayor Phil Marks said it was won­der­ful to wel­come the stu­dents to Bel­mont.

“The City’s Sis­ter City re­la­tion­ship with Adachi in Tokyo con­tin­ues to be a strong one,” Mr Marks said.

Adachi stu­dents Sara Mat­sunaga, Shizuk Kawai and Nao Saito.
