Feather your nest with bird walk through wet­lands

TO cel­e­brate BirdLife Aus­tralia’s Na­tional Bird Week and Aussie Back­yard Bird Count, the City of South Perth en­vi­ron­ment of­fi­cers will lead a free guided walk along the unique Water­ford fore­shore through park­lands and rem­nant wet­lands to ob­serve and record birds.

The event starts at 9am on Oc­to­ber 29 at Curtin Univer­sity Boat Club in Sal­ter Point and in­for­ma­tion gath­ered dur­ing the sur­vey will be sent to BirdLife Aus­tralia and will be used in their on­go­ing mon­i­tor­ing pro­grams.

Par­tic­i­pants can ex­pect to ob­serve up to 40 species in the area in­clud­ing os­prey, black swans, grebes and great egret.

The walk is ap­prox­i­mately 3km on sealed path­ways and suit­able for peo­ple with a gen­eral level of fit­ness.

Fam­i­lies and chil­dren (su­per­vised) are en­cour­aged to at­tend.
