POTENTIAL Town of Victoria Park councillors had the chance to pitch their ideas to the public at a Meet the Candidates meeting.

The Vic Park Collective and Community Forum Victoria Park hosted the event at the Victoria Park Carlisle Bowling Club on October 4.

Thirteen of the 16 candidates attended the meeting and each of them was given three minutes to talk.

Some of the regular issues raised included parking, rates, community consultation, green spaces, accountability, finances and sensible development.

Questions from the public included whether they supported a synthetic hockey turf facility at Harold Rossiter Reserve.

None of the candidates voiced support for the facility being placed at the reserve but several made suggestions where the council could look to locate it.

The second question asked related to community engagement with the candidates given their ideas about what the concept meant to them.

The last question of the night was about what the council could do about climate change.
