IT’S quick, cheap and simple to keep your furry friends safe in Belmont this month.

PETstock Bio-John on Abernethy Road is holding a microchip blitz on Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22.

Microchipping at the event will cost $10 per pet, just a fraction of the standard price.

Owners can bring in their dogs, cats and small animals.

Store manager Natasha McPherson is encouraging everyone to get involved, from local owners to rescue groups.

“Last year, we microchipped over 8000 pets over two days across the country. We’re hoping to do even more this time around,” she said.

“We do a lot of different animals. Apart from Queensland, a lot of states do ferrets, rabbits, all sorts of things.”

The microchipping is done Jenae Griggsby with her poodle Hudson and PETstock manager Natasha McPherson. by vets and vet nurses, with many volunteers coming together to donate their time to the event.

Jenae Griggsby, owner of 11week-old standard poodle Hudson, said microchipping pets gives owners peace of mind.

“In case they get lost, it’s easier to find their home,” she said.
