MORE than 40,000 people are expected to immerse themselves into a sea of colour and fun at the Vic Park Summer Street Party this Sunday.

Chinese lion dancers, Bollywood performers and indie rockers will all perform at the festival, which takes place on Albany Highway between Dane and Mint streets from 2pm to 9pm.

UpBeat Events director Ken Allen said there was a focus on local performers and groups at this year’s event, which is sponsored by the Southern Gazette.

“The main stage has been programmed by Dylan Sainsbury, from Rhubarb Records, and features lots of indie musicians,” he said.

“There will be a collaboration between the Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe and the Bollywood Dance Studio, which will include Junkadelic and the Eco Faeries.

“There will be buskers, which will feature performers from in and around Victoria Park.”

Mr Allen said there would be more activities for children, including pets, a dunk tank, bouncy castle and climbing wall.

“There will also be the Mooja Christmas Wishing Tree, where people can write their Christmas wishes,” she said.
