PEOPLE are being invited to learn how to mend old clothes to avoid sending them to landfill during a workshop in East Victoria Park.

Repair to Re-wear is the first workshop that will be run as part of the Town of Victoria Park’s series of sustainability-focused events, Coffee and Change.

The free workshop at the Organic Cafe on November 22 will be run by Spotted owner Petra Richardson, who will talk about how to mend and clean clothes. “I started Spotted about three years ago, I’ve got a background in fashion design and I’ve always had a passion for opshopping,” she said.

“The concept of Spotted is that I mend and clean clothes to inject a new lease of life and then find a new home for them.”

Mrs Richardson said she would discuss how to mend and take care of clothes and the best ways to get stains out of them during the workshop. “Fashion is not like it was 20 years ago when people felt the need to get the latest styles, everything is in fashion now and people can express themselves,” she said.
