THE Town of Victoria Park has confirmed parking will be available at Belmont Park Racecourse for events at Optus Stadium until the footbridge from East Perth is completed.

Potential parking solutions were floated during a press conference last week, when it was announced there would be no crowd cap at the Perth Scorchers BBL semifinal at the stadium.

The Town has supported 500 pre-paid bays being made available, with traffic monitored by the Department of Transport, Main Roads and the council. If successful, 900 bays will be made available.

The solution was trialled during Sunday’s One Day International between Australia and England.

A statement from the Town confirmed that McCallum Park and Taylor Reserve were put forward as a ‘once-off’ option for consideration for the BBL finals, which begin at 4.40pm and clash with peakhour traffic.

After discussions between representatives from the Town, Department of Transport, Main Roads and Venues Live, it was agreed the initiatives already proposed would be sufficient to support crowds.
