Fol­low­ing in grandma’s foot­steps

MAN­NING res­i­dent Amelie Reed fin­ished run­ner-up at Royal Perth Golf Club’s (PRGC) MyGolf girls five-hole Tiger Tee’s com­pe­ti­tion late last year.

The 10-year-old joined the Girls Club pro­gram three years ago af­ter be­ing in­spired by her grand­mother Lyn Cook, who was the RPGC women’s cap­tain un­til 2016.

“I’m re­ally lik­ing golf and I’m get­ting bet­ter and bet­ter ev­ery day,” Reed said.

“I like see­ing the friends I have made in the pro­gram and play­ing in the re­lax­ing sea breeze.”

PRGC brought its Girls Club pro­gram un­der the MyGolf ban­ner in 2013.

The pro­gram runs ev­ery Tues­day dur­ing school terms from 4pm.
