LOVE is in the air for a couple of Mercy Place, Lathlain, residents as they celebrate a wedding anniversary and Valentine’s Day all in the matter of days.

Frank (91) and Norma Platell (89) celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Sunday, February 11.

Tomorrow, Mr Platell will give his wife a single red rose and Valentine’s card signed as an ‘anonymous lover’.

They married on February 11, 1949, at St Patrick’s Church in Mt Lawley and chose a V12 Lincoln as their wedding car, “the ultimate Ford at the time,” Mr Platell said.

“I knew I was marrying a beautiful person, but I didn’t realise just how beautiful she was until I saw her enter the church on her dad’s arm,” he said.

“We’ve had the most marvellous time together. You can easily say that you love someone but you need to prove it by showing it every day in your actions; that’s what we both did and as a result we had real harmony in our family home.”
