KRYSIA’S DREAM ROLE

Southern Gazette (Victoria Park) - - Lifestyle - Aaron Corlett

CARLISLE resident Krysia Wiechecki is about to take part in an extraordinary affair – on stage.

Her latest play looks at what happens when a man’s best friend dreams about his wife, on the night she has the exact same dream about him.

The idea is explored in Marble at Marloo Theatre, written by famed Irish playwright Marina Carr and directed by Belmont resident Rodney van Groningen.

Art and Ben work for the same company, their lives controlled by board meetings and high-level presentations.

They have been friends since childhood and both have beautiful stay-at-home, self-indulgent wives.

Art idly tells Ben he has dreamt of his friend’s wife as a blonde, wildly-fulfilling sexual partner in a room lined with marble and decorated with marble statues.

Disturbed, Ben then finds his wife Catherine, played by Wiechecki, has had a similar dream about Art.

“It’s a very intense and wonderfully challenging role with large emotional jumps that occur quite quickly – and it’s important to make them realistic, interesting and meaningful to the audience,” Wiechecki said.

“It’s also a challenge creating strong, realistic relationships in a drama such as this.”

Marble plays at 8pm on February 23, 24, 28, March 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10, with 2pm matinees on February 25 and March 4. Tickets are $22 for adults $20 for concession – book on 6270 1465 or at www.trybooking.com/ SUMS.
