Expression­s of interest are being invited for an Intertown Tennis Competitio­n between Jerilderie, Berrigan and Finley.

Parents will be required to provide shared transport.

The Jerilderie Races Fashion On The Field group would like to extend an invitation to members of the local area to attend an evening with milliner Margaret Singleton.

This evening will take place on Wednesday, August 31 at Four Creeks Cafe´, Bar & Restaurant, Jerilderie, commencing at 7pm.

Margaret will have a selection of handmade headwear in the latest styles for sale on the night and will take orders if anyone would like something especially made.

A glass of bubbly and nibbles are included in the $10 entry fee and an indication of attendance by Sunday, August 28 would be appreciate­d for catering purposes.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Gina DiLullo and Adrian and Letitia DiLullo and their families, following the death of their mother and nonna Maria, on Saturday in Albury.

Last Wednesday it was full house in the Monash Room theatrette at the Jerilderie library, for the film The Lady in the Van, starring Maggie Smith and a host of other great actors.

We eagerly await the next free film selected by Rhonda and Catie.

Rhonda and Catie have had a pleasing response to their special theme shelf at the library.

Books around the first theme, body parts, disappeare­d off the shelves as fast as Rhonda and Catie could replace them.

A change of theme is coming up in the near future.

All volunteers at the Vinnies store are advised that volunteer packs, containing informatio­n and forms to be completed by every Vinnies volunteer, are now in the shop.

You are asked to pick up a package when the shop is open, or when you are on the roster, and return in a sealed envelope to Lucy Sweeney, before October 28.

This is to comply with current laws regarding volunteer workers.

Jerilderie Public School will be holding Jeans for Genes day tomorrow as a fundraiser to assist people with genetic diseases and birth defects.

A gold coin donation towards the cause will allow students to wear jeans with their school uniform.

On Friday, JPS Book Week celebratio­ns will include the Ashton Scholastic Book Fair in the JPS library, and a book character dress-up parade at 9.30am.

Parents are encouraged to go along and enjoy the day.

A JPS parents and staff social function, Minute to Win It, will be held at the Jerilderie Race Course on Saturday, September 10.

The Jerilderie pre-school, St Joseph’s School and Jerilderie Public School all had their school photos taken during last week.

St Joey’s and JPS were lucky with the sunny weather on Wednesday and Thursday, and the pre-school managed to get their photos done between showers, and before the rain really set in, on Friday.

The committee of the Jerilderie Community Gym is holding a meeting tonight at the Sports Club at 7pm.

Interested community members are invited to attend and share suggestion­s for the future of the gym.

Jerilderie Life ballers will meet this morning at BP Roadhouse, at 11am, for their monthly morning tea get together.

Members of the Jerilderie Hospital Auxiliary are reminded the August meeting of the Auxiliary is tomorrow at 2pm, in the meeting room at the Community Centre.

Jerilderie Red Cross members will be holding a street stall this Friday starting at 8.30am.

Any donations of cakes or saleable goods will be appreciate­d.
