Champions of the Murray

Tocumwal On Saturday we had 4BBB Stableford for the ladies and men to determine the Champions of the Murray entrants.

Ladies Division 1 winners were Sue Davies and Pauline Wilson with 45 pts on c/back from Margaret Fergeus and Marlene Bailey. NTP: Cheryl Rossboroug­h 2nd, Kerry Conrad 17th.

Men’s Division 1 winners were Ronald Huy/Bruce Enbom with 44 pts; r/up were Denis Myers/Barry Prideux with 40 pts. NTP: Joe Sacco 2nd, Colin Holdsworth 17th.

Last Tuesday the ladies played Stroke Star Medal for all the finalists that saw Division 1 going to Jillian Collins with 75 net, r/up went to Gina Brown 77; Mary Murdoch was the Division 2 winner with 69 net on c/back from Julie O’Brien. NTP: Patricia Frost 2nd, Mary Murdoch 14th.

The Star Medal winner was Sue Lawson with 76 net.

Last Wednesday saw 112 men playing Par on the Captain’s Course with Division 1 being won by Jeff Harris with +3. r/up Adam Purtill with square.

Paul Astin (Cob-Bar GC) was the Division 2 winner with +3 followed by Denis Myers +2; Division 3 was won by Denis Frost with +2 with r/up going to John Irvine +1; John Carroll was the Division 4 winner with +3 followed by Sneddon +2.

NTP: Colin Wearne 2nd, Darren John 8th, Alan Dalton 17th (Pro Pin $164).

Finley In the Men’s Comp on Wednesday the 2QN Stableford Event was played.

Rand Wilson carded 40 points to claim the voucher. NTP: 18th Ray Watmore (Tocumwal). Ball comp: Simon Fuller (38), Matt Daniel (37) and Andrew Higgins (37). Bob Makkinga claimed another Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA trophy.

John Taylor carded 33.5 net to win the Thursday afternoon Nine Hole Stroke Competitio­n with balls going to Colin McNamara (35) and Barry Fahey (35.5).

On Saturday Ray Healey with a fine 40 points claimed the trophy at the Strategic Wealth Planning Men’s Stableford event.

Janet Delmenico took the Harlow and Luda trophy for ladies.

NTP: 18th Doug Smith. Balls went to Rand Wilson (38), Eric Dean (36), Marty Piggin (35), Heather Daniel (31) and Mary Polkinghor­ne (30).

Barry Wilson took the Men’s Heritage Jackpot while the ladies’ jackpotted once again.

At the weekend the Spring Cup, missed from early September, will be played, and Maxwell on Sunday stableford will be played.

Finley Ladies October 19, stableford (sponsor - Angels Be Hair).

Winner - Beth White (27) 34 pts.

McDonalds Team Day sponsored by Penrite was held on Friday with ladies from Rich River Golf Club, Cobram/Barooga, Howlong, Berrigan and Jerilderie taking part.

Finley ladies winning the Teams and Grade events were:

A grade winner - Joanne Dean (20) 39 points; r/up - Margot Robertson (19) 38.

B grade winner - Heather Daniel (22) 38 on countback; r/up - Deborah Pyke (22) 38.

C grade winner - Anne Harding (29) 38 on countback; r/up - Kim Lawlor (34) 38.

Team winners: Joanne Dean, Deborah Pyke and Margot Robertson 114 pts.

Veterans: Maria McDonnell.

NTP: Margaret Lemsing on 11th; Vanessa Rankin on 13th and 18th.

Ball comp: Marian Ayres, Kaye Sutton all 36 pts; Mary Manuel, Vanessa Rankin and Julie Cox all 35pts; Margaret Lemsing, Sue Lawson, Janet Delmenico and Maria Mentha all 34 pts.
