Georgia on track for Sydney event

Georgia Belling from Jerilderie St Joseph’s Primary School will travel to Sydney as part of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga Cross Country Team.

Georgia earned her place on the team after placing third in her age group at the district carnival late last month.

St Joseph’s principal Mandy Catena said the young runner and six other students participated in the Diocesan Cross Country in Holbrook on Friday, April 28.

Other students to compete in Holbrook were Lachlan Wells, Amelia Wells, Tex Flack, Matt DiLullo, Ava Belling and Hugh Wettenhall.

‘‘All students ran personal best times and had a great day,’’ she said.

This year’s Cross Country began with a fun day at Sacred Heart School in Tocumwal where years 3-6 students from both schools ran around the Tocumwal Recreation Reserve.

The younger children had a morning of games and activities at Sacred Heart and then joined the rest of the students for lunch at the oval.
