He­lene to con­test state women’s trade award

Jer­ilderie’s He­lene Mort­lock (pic­tured) will this week con­test the NSW In­dus­try Ex­cel­lence Awards’ Woman in a Non Tra­di­tional Trade Award cat­e­gory.

Mrs Mort­lock was en­tered as a fi­nal­ist af­ter com­pet­ing in the Ap­pren­tice of the Year at the Rive­rina/Mur­ray Re­gion awards in Wagga Wagga in June.

The ap­pren­tice car­pen­ter is em­ployed by Paul Ryan Build­ing Con­trac­tors.

She is also study­ing a TAFE NSW Cer­tifi­cate III in Car­pen­try and Cer­tifi­cate IV in Con­struc­tion.

TAFE NSW stu­dents fea­ture among the fi­nal­ists in six of the seven in­di­vid­ual cat­e­gories at the awards event, to be held at Sydney Town Hall on Thurs­day.

The pres­ti­gious awards, con­ducted by the NSW De­part­ment of In­dus­try, recog­nise the many vo­ca­tional ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing (VET) stu­dents, teach­ers, providers and em­ploy­ers work­ing across the sec­tor.
