Students showcase ‘Adventures’
Today at 10.30am and tonight at 7pm St Columba’s school will present this year’s production ‘The Adventures of Captain Starblaster’.
It is directed by Helen Dickie, who is very happy with the children’s efforts and is looking forward to showcasing the students’ hard work and bringing this production together.
The community is most welcome to come along and enjoy this wonderful talent in this town. Entry is free.
The Amaroo Auxiliary would like to thank everyone for their support of the raffle for the beautifully made and donated quilt by Dawn Pyle and Linda Kay.

Berrigan Country Women’s Association held its International Day on Thursday, August 14. Children from St Columba’s and the primary school showed a powerpoint presentation on ‘Life in Nepal’.
CWA members then provided a taste of Nepalese food for the children before they returned to school, at which time members shared a Nepalese style lunch.
Thanks to the community for their support for the CWA annual Father’s Day stall last Friday. The raffle was won by Terese Gorman.
Next month is CWA Awareness Week and plans are underway for a walk in the ‘Tank Paddock’, followed by morning tea, on Thursday, September 25.
It will cost you a gold coin donation, with proceeds going to Associated Country Women of the World.
Last Sunday the Berrigan Cricket Club held their first training drill.
A positive number of people turned up ready to take on the season.
The next session will be next Sunday at 11am with a free barbecue to follow.
Finley High School principal Helen McRae will be hosting a meeting at the public school on Wednesday, September 13 to talk with current and future parents of students of Finley High School about the future direction of Finley High School for the next three years.
Finley High School encourages parents and parents of students in Years 4, 5 and 6 from both schools to attend this meeting and to have a voice in the future direction of the school.
On September 11, Biralee Preschool and Centacare South West NSW are hosting a free seminar on ‘Making Parenting a Little Easier’.
This presentation will provide you with flexible alternatives you can draw upon to teach new skills at home, help establish daily routines, and effectively respond to these challenging situations. Guest speaker is Dan Petro. The evening starts at 6.30pm and bookings and further information can be directed to Jessica at Biralee Preschool on 5883 1609.
Last Sunday the Berrigan Football and Netball Club hosted the preliminary finals for the Picola North West.
In perfect weather conditions the ground and surrounds were a credit to the committee who have worked hard to maintain the standard that we are used to.
A huge crowd came through the gates, and the committee wish to thank the community who helped on the day, made cakes, slices and worked in the canteen.
Tonight the Berrigan Race Club will be holding its Annual General Meeting at 7.30pm at the Berrigan Sporties. All are welcome to attend.
The Berrigan Football and Netball Club will be holding its Junior Presentation Night on Friday, September 15.
This night the club will conduct the vote count for netball under 13 and 15s and football’s thirds and fourths.
A meal will be provided and families are asked to please bring a salad.
The senior vote count for will be held Saturday, September 16.
Tickets are $40 per head which includes a two course meal and entertainment.
All welcome for a wonderful night to celebrate the year.
The Berrigan Tennis Club held its AGM last week.
The committee remains unchanged: Chris Cameron as president, Steve Parr as vice president, Louise Hatty as secretary and Carolyn Alexander as treasurer. Night tennis starts Tuesday, October 10. Any interested players can contact Carolyn Alexander on 0427 668 062.
The United Hospital Auxilliary of Berrigan held its August meeting last Monday where they acknowledged the 30 years of service of Elaine Hawkins. Our congratulations go out to you. The auxiliary will be holding a street stall on September 15 to raise funds to buy five new mattresses for the hospital beds and a special long chair.
The annual Joan Davis Rose show is deferred this year, for a possible autumn 2018 show.
