Big Deni Truck Show
The importance of the trucking and transport industry to the Southern Riverina will be celebrated in Deniliquin this weekend, at the annual Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo.
It is part of a huge transport industry weekend for the region, and organisers are expecting between 90 and 100 trucks to be showcased.
The Truck Show and Industry Expo will be held at Deniliquin’s Memorial Park this Saturday from 10am, and organising committee president Leesa Muir said it will be packed with displays and entertainment.
‘‘We have so much to do for the whole family — there’s a truck show and shine, a bike show and shine, children’s entertainment including sideshow rides, trade displays, industry information, technology and more,’’ she said.
On the Friday evening, there will be a Deniliquin & District Transport Wall of Fame Induction Dinner from 6.30pm at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
The action then kicks off at Memorial Park the next day with gates opening from 10am.
With full bar and catering facilities and plenty of fun for the whole family, enjoy a fun day at the site before heading to the Deniliquin Golf Club for the Truck Show ‘after party’. To be held from 6pm, the event will feature music by One OB.
‘‘There will be live entertainment, tasty food choices and a fully stocked bar, and don’t forget the free courtesy bus — the Golf Club has got the lot,’’ Ms Muir said.
The weekend will wrap up with the memorial service at the industry’s Wall of Fame monument at the Davidson St Rest Stop, on Sunday at 11am.
It will be lead by Finley High School Chaplain Josh Renn, who is also a truck driver.
‘‘We wanted to do something to pay tribute to those in the industry no longer with us, and we thought adding a memorial service would be fitting,’’ Ms Muir said.
‘‘It will be a memorable and special ending to a fantastic weekend.’’
