Open­ing Day this Satur­day

Tocumwal Open­ing Day for the sea­son is this Satur­day (12.30 for 1pm). There will be so­cial bowls fol­lowed by af­ter­noon tea to cel­e­brate the end of the win­ter break.

Sun­day is Open­ing Day for Mur­ray Bowls Di­vi­sion. Any­one who would like to represent the club at Jer­ilderie con­tact re­cep­tion.

Mon­day is Open­ing Day for the ladies (9.30 for 10am). Men are also most wel­come. From this date on so­cial bowls will be held on Mon­day morn­ing (9.30 for 10am).

All pen­nant play­ers keep Sept. 16 at Rich River and Sept. 23 (Be­nalla vis­it­ing Tocumwal) avail­able for prac­tice.

The Mur­ray Bowls Di­vi­sion pro­gram books will be avail­able shortly.

In­for­ma­tion on the fol­low­ing events is avail­able from re­cep­tion: Men’s Trade Days; Ladies Trade Days; 55 & over at Tocumwal, Septem­ber 12.

Fin­ley BC 55-and-over bowls starts Septem­ber 12 at Tocumwal at 10am.

Play­ers are urged to form teams of triples for this fort­nightly event, held at dif­fer­ent venues. En­tries close Sept. 10.

Fin­ley BC is call­ing for nom­i­na­tions for five se­lec­tors with two emer­gency se­lec­tors. Ex­pe­ri­enced play­ers are asked to ac­cept nom­i­na­tion with the en­deav­our of ar­rang­ing teams to make progress in the pen­nant com­pe­ti­tion.

Bowlers are asked to pre­pare for the com­ing sea­son by par­tic­i­pat­ing in Thurs­day bowls, at 1pm. Win­ners last week were Ge­off Trevor­row and Ray Koschel, with three wins plus eight shots.

Sun­day morn­ing bowls was won by Billy Smith and Ron Pent­land +3 shots.

MarkII Mo­tors in Tocumwal is spon­sor­ing a triples event (any com­bi­na­tion) on Oc­to­ber 2.

The Fin­ley BC mem­bers’ draw stands at $840.

Caterer Vicky is happy with her ex­tended trading days — now Thurs­day, Fri­day and Satur­day evenings with Sun­day morn­ing break­fasts and a roast lunch.

Fin­ley RS Last Wed­nes­day the ladies held the Haynes Tro­phy Day. Win­ners were Joyce Thomas and Carmel Sut­cliffe; run­ners-up Noela Thomas and Lyn Donkin.

Sun­day was mixed pairs and win­ners were Ian and Mary Smet­thurst on 41 points; r-up David Polk­inghorne and Lyn Donkin with 41 (lost on per­cent­age).

The men’s club pairs will be played Satur­day, Septem­ber 9 (names by Sept. 8).

Mur­ray Di­vi­sion is try­ing a dif­fer­ent for­mat for its Open­ing Day on Sept. 10. Jer­ilderie will host clubs in the lo­cal area and Katan­dra will do like­wise for its lo­cal area.

Ladies pairs will be played this Fri­day (names by noon Thurs­day). The A grade cham­pi­onship is set for Sept. 22.
