Two Toc. teams out of fi­nals

It wasn’t Tocumwal’s day on the courts in Satur­day’s Pi­cola League pre­lim­i­nary final played at Ber­ri­gan.

The Bloods’ Un­der 17s man­aged to keep up with Strath­mer­ton, with only two goals sep­a­rat­ing them at half time.

A drop in in­ten­sity saw Strath­mer­ton ease away in the third term on the score­board de­spite Toc’s gal­lant ef­forts. Strath­mer­ton 41 de­feated Tocumwal 23. Tocumwal’s best: Madi­son Wooden, Wynta Brain and Gra­cie Reid.

Tocumwal C grade came out strong, win­ning the first quar­ter with pre­ci­sion passes into the ring and the goals go­ing straight in.

Down by one goal by half time, the Bloods failed to re­gain their first quar­ter mo­men­tum. Final score, Pi­cola 33 def. Tocumwal 26. Tocumwal’s best: Amanda Reid and Melissa Jones.

Tocumwal have two teams look­ing for back-to-back pre­mier­ships, with A Grade and Un­der-15s play­ing in this Satur­day’s grand final in Blighty.
