Cash for Ama­roo

John Lane pre­sented a cheque for $3741 to the Ama­roo Aged Care Aux­il­iary last week.

The cheque rep­re­sented the pro­ceeds of a com­pe­ti­tion held on the 50th birth­day cel­e­bra­tions of Daw­mac In­dus­tries.

The aux­il­iary is ex­tremely grate­ful to John, Wendy, Paul and Trent and staff of Daw­mac for their gen­eros­ity.

The money raised will be used for Vi­tal Sign Mon­i­tors for the res­i­dents of Ama­roo. Daw­mac and the Ama­roo Aux­il­iary also wish to thank the com­mu­nity for their sup­port that day.

Ber­ri­gan and District Her­itage Mu­seum held its AGM last Mon­day. Mar­ney Dal­gliesh was re­turned as pres­i­dent, Marnie Steer as sec­re­tary and Lu­cille Dick­ins as trea­surer.

Meet­ings are held the first Mon­day of each month at 7.30pm at the mu­seum, which is open dur­ing work­ing bees each Wed­nes­day from 9am.

The Ber­ri­gan Foot­ball/Net­ball Club will hold the ju­nior vote count on Fri­day night start­ing at 6pm and the se­nior vote count on Satur­day from 6.30pm.

Tick­ets for the se­nior event are $40 per head which in­cludes a meal and en­ter­tain­ment pro­vided by Damien Tay­lor. Con­tact Ar­lena Pyle for a ticket.

Ber­ri­gan Shire Coun­cil has had to close a sec­tion of Apex Park play­ground due to con­tin­u­ous van­dal­ism, and it will be closed un­til re­pairs are com­pleted.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Tahlia Thom­son who last week was named school cap­tain for St Paul’s Walla Walla for 2018.

In­ter­est­ing to note that Tahlia and brother Bai­ley were school cap­tains at the public school and Bai­ley was also school cap­tain of Walla Walla. Par­ents John and So­nia are ex­tremely proud.

Well done to Tahlia and also happy birth­day for last week.

Tahlia Thom­son will shave her head to raise funds for the Al­bury-Wodonga Re­gional Can­cer Cen­tre, at The Stump at 11am on the Thurs­day of the Henty Field Days.

Tahlia has al­ready raised $3800 and aims to get to her goal of $5000.

Last Wed­nes­day St Columba’s put on their an­nual pro­duc­tion ‘The Ad­ven­ture of Cap­tain Star­blaster’. It was won­der­ful with all the stu­dents par­tic­i­pat­ing.

A spe­cial men­tion to He­len and Mal­colm Dickie who bring out the best of our young stu­dents.

Mrs Dickie is also help­ing with the Ber­ri­gan Public School play — ‘Zombeo and Juliet the Mu­si­cal’ — to be held Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 20 at 10.30am and 7pm.

Ad­mis­sion is $5 for adults, $10 for fam­i­lies and a gold coin for pen­sion­ers. Chil­dren are free.
