Fundraiser a suc­cess

Fin­ley The post­poned fundrais­ing evening for the Ber­riquin Toy Li­brary and Fin­ley Play­group was held last Fri­day and was a suc­cess­ful evening, with $1,118 be­ing raised.

Fin­ley High School will be the ben­e­fi­ciary from the fundraiser this Fri­day evening.

Con­di­tions were ideal for bowls on Sun­day morn­ing when 12 play­ers were in­volved.

Win­ners were Betty Robin­son and Ron Pent­land, plus 9.

Lucky draw went to Ash Haines and Ge­off Trevor­row; Al­lan Cowan and Gra­ham Shu­mack. Nom­i­na­tions are still open for se­lec­tors for the com­ing sea­son; add nom­i­na­tions to the list avail­able on the no­tice board.

Fol­low­ing the amal­ga­ma­tion of play­ers, the se­lec­tors are bound to choose the best avail­able teams to rep­re­sent the club, with the hope of pen­nant suc­cess.

Fin­ley will com­pete in Divi­sion Three and Divi­sion Four in Satur­day pen­nant.

There are sep­a­rate se­lec­tors for Fri­day com­pe­ti­tion.

A tour­ing party, of 43 men, from the Gee­long area will be play­ing so­cial bowls with us on Mon­day, Septem­ber 25, with Heather mak­ing fi­nal ar­range­ments.

Pro­grams for the sea­son are now avail­able for Mur­ray Divi­sion fix­tures and the club events.

En­tries are be­ing re­ceived for the Mark 11 Au­to­mo­tive Triples, any com­bi­na­tion, set down for Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 3, at 1pm.

It was open­ing day for Mur­ray Divi­sion on Sun­day, with the north­ern clubs play­ing at Jer­ilderie.

A list is avail­able for play­ers to visit Ber­ri­gan Club next Sun­day, Septem­ber 17 for its open­ing day.

Fri­day Mem­bers Draw has ac­cu­mu­lated to $880.

The draw takes place af­ter the raf­fles.

Din­ing room ser­vice avail­able from 6pm.

Tocumwal Sun­day saw a group of bowlers hit the greens for the open­ing day of the sea­son.

Con­di­tions over the last few weeks have been dif­fi­cult to say the least and the win­ner of the day was ‘sun­shine’.

We wel­comed Betty Har­rop who has just turned 90 and is now of­fi­cially our oldest cur­rent player.

Our pen­nant teams will be trav­el­ling to Rich River on Satur­day Septem­ber 16.

All pen­nant play­ers and bowlers in­ter­ested in pen­nant are wel­come to rep­re­sent our club in this friendly match. The bus will be leav­ing at 10am sharp.

Men’s Trade Day at Nathalia saw four Tocumwal teams en­tered and at the In­au­gu­ral Ladies Trade Day at Co­bram we also had four Tocumwal teams.
